OTEC project for Cayman makes baby steps

October 29, 2015—It has been more than a year since Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (‘OTEC Cayman’) announced ambitious plans to build a floating power platform off North Side. 

The platform would use warm surface water and deep cold water to in that process that creates steam generated electricity.

It was first unveiled on 23 September 2014. Shortly after the announcement, several residents from North Side made their disapproval clear, while advocates continued to stress it could be a way for Cayman to rely less on imported diesel. Watch/Read more at Cayman 27…
